  • Lauren Boebert, GOP Rep., has not responded to critics of her remarks about Transportation Sec. Pete Buttigieg.

  • Boebert criticized Buttigieg at an event last month and stated that he was trying hard to “chest feed them”.

  • These comments were made at the exact same event in which Boebert suggested that Rep. Ilhanomar was a terrorist.

GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert, the Republican of Georgia, has not yet responded to public criticisms over remarks she made this month at an event about Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg trying “chest feed” and Rep. Ilhanomar, whom she said was a terrorist.

“Meanwhile you have Secretary for Transportation, good ol’ Mayor Pete. He wasn’t even asked to manage the supply-chain crisis. Boebert joked that Mayor Pete was still at home trying figure out how to breast feed, and someone else was selected to fill the role.

She stated, “Somebody needs to tell him so it’s possible for him to get back on his feet.”

YouTube video of the event circulated after it had been posted to Twitter Thursday. However, it was captured at a November 20th event where it was also shared to Facebook that same day according to CNN. While her comments were met with negative feedback on social media by others, she has yet to address the criticism.

Insider reached out to Boebert but a representative did not immediately respond to our request for comment on Sunday.

Chasten Buttigieg announced in September that he and Buttigieg had adopted twins Penelope Rose (and Joseph August). The transportation secretary declared that he had taken parental leave while in the Biden administration. This was controversial and elicited backlash from conservative.

Boebert in November also criticized Buttigieg. He made claims regarding the transportation secretary’s attempt to “chestfeed” his children.

“The guy was gone. The guy wasn’t working.” We don’t know why. Because why? Fox News host Tucker Carlson similarly claimed that Buttigieg was attempting to learn to breastfeed.

Boebert, a Republican who represents Colorado, already issued one apology for comments she made at the same event, where she implied that Rep. Ilhan Omar, who is Muslim, was a terrorist.

Bryan Metzger of Insider reported that Boebert encountered Omar in an elevator. He ran toward her with “fret all his face”

“Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. Boebert told the officer that they should be fine. Boebert said that Omar was referred to by her during the interaction as a member the “Jihad Squad”, referring to the progressive group of lawmakers who are all people with color.

According to NBC Washington, Omar later claimed that Boebert had fabricated the whole story.

Her comments about Omar sparked widespread backlash, which led her to apologize in a tweet Friday.

Boebert wrote in a Tweet, “I regret that I have offended anyone in the Muslim communities by my comment regarding Rep. Omar.” “I have reached to her office to speak with them directly. There are many policy differences to be focused on without being distracted.

After Boebert’s statement was made on Twitter, Omar sent a tweet requesting that Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker, and Kevin McCarthy take action to stop her.

“Saying you’re a suicide-bomber is not something to be laughed at. @GOPLeader and @SpeakerPelosi need to take appropriate action, normalizing this bigotry not only endangers my life but the lives of all Muslims,” Omar said. “Anti-Muslim bigotry has no place in Congress.”

To Omar’s remarks, the Democratic leadership responded by a statement saying that her language and behavior were “far below the standard of integrity and dignity with which the Constitution, our constituents, and we must act in the House.”
